Before & After service
Greeters: Greeters extend the hospitality of the Lord to His people as they enter His house. It is a great way to meet everyone and make a lot of friends. We ask greeters to arrive half hour before service, to welcome members and visitors as they enter church. If someone identifies themselves as a visitor, the greeter will ask them if they are familiar with the Lutheran service and offer to seat them with someone who can help them with the service.
Ushers: Friendly ushers welcome members and visitors as they enter sanctuary, distribute bulletins and assist anyone who needs help getting to or finding a seat. Ushers count attendance, help collect the offering and direct communicants to the altar when it is a communion service. You can sign up to usher at service once in a while or join the rotating schedule. Interested volunteers will receive detailed instruction.
Altar Guild: Our altar guild assists with preparing the sanctuary for worship. This group works behind the scenes to prepare and decorate the altar for the holy days and the various liturgical seasons. Folks work in teams of two a month at a time on a rotating basis.
Coffee hour: Every Sunday following service, we invite you to join us for coffee and fellowship. It doesn’t cost anything but donations to help cover the cost of food and drinks is welcome. We need help with set up and clean up. Are you a baker? Or maybe a shopper? Either way – treats to share are always welcome! Contact Gail Russo firstname.lastname@example.org
Acolytes: Volunteers usually our youth, but adults are certainly welcome to volunteer to light the candles on the altar at the beginning and at the end of worship. Volunteers can sign up for a week at a time. Contact: Veronica Connelly, Parish Administrator
Readers: Volunteers proclaim the Word of the Lord during worship service reading the scripture readings at Worship. When you read the lessons, you are helping nourish God’s people in His word. You can sign up to read at service once in a while or join the rotating schedule. Readings are sent to you several days before so you have time to prepare. Contact:
Choir: All are welcome to join our choir - the young and the young at heart; men, women and children. If you like to sing or play an instrument, we would love for you to join us as we praise God through music. We practice on Wednesday at 7:30 and sing at service on Sunday mornings. Contact: Mike Russo email@example.com
Bell Choir: Our handbell choir is always welcoming ringers, new or experienced! We meet on Wednesday at 6:30 pm and perform about once a month at service. Contact: Sharon Shaw firstname.lastname@example.org
Nursery: Children of all ages are welcome to worship with their families in the sanctuary during service. We believe children learn their faith from their parents while they worship. For parents who want their children to have a break or fun in a safe setting while they worship, happy volunteers watch young children in the nursery room during service so their parents are able to enjoy the sermon. Any person volunteering in the nursery will have PA state law required clearances so if you want to volunteer our Parish Administrator will help you get the clearances. Homebound Communion: Bringing our congregation's worship to peoples' homes and hospital bedsides is a joyful and fulfilling work for everyone who participates. The lay ministers bring worship -- the Word of God and Holy Communion -- from our congregation's service to the people at home. Training provided for interested volunteers. Contact:
Bulletin Team: Our bulletin team takes turns on Friday mornings assembling the bulletins for our Sunday service. The bulletins are printed and folded ahead of time. The team puts them in order and places them in the Narthex so they are all ready for service on Sunday. We currently have four teams so the commitment is only about half an hour once a month for each team.
